Book Trivia Week 2

It's time for another week of book trivia! Last week you all had fun guessing who the children's authors may have been who served in the two World Wars & due to their experiences in the war, became authors. Guesses included Hemmingway, A. A. Milne, Lofting & Dahl. If you read last week's blog post, you know the two I was referencing were Lofting & Dahl - Lofting served in World War I and Dahl served in World War II.  Be sure to read last week's trivia post for more information about each author.

On to this week's trivia question:  What character on the TV Show MASH shared a nickname with a character in a James Fenimore Cooper novel?  How did he get the nickname?

Dr. Benjamin Franklin Pierce has the nickname of Hawkeye in the TV show MASH.  It is reported that his father gave him the nickname when he was young because his father loved the book The Last of the Mohicans written by James Fenimore Cooper. He tells BJ it was the only book his father ever read.

The protagonist in The Last of The Mohicans is named Nathanial "Hawkeye" Poe.  The Last of the Mohicans is the second book of five books in the Leatherstocking Tales. The Leatherstocking Tales were written about frontier adventure in the United States. Cooper was raised in a remote settlement in New York as a child & is considered the first major American Novelist, according the Brittanica.com.  To view his books, click here.
